Adults play a key role in helping youth services run smoothly. Everyone over the age of 18 is background checked and placed based on their interests.

Adult Volunteer Opportunities include:

School Club Mentor

A School Club Mentor acts a liaison between the Red Cross and one of the several Red Cross Clubs in Santa Cruz County. Mentors work closely with the club executives in an advisory role when planning new projects and events.  Mentors must attend club meetings at the campuses. Each school has 1-2 mentors.

Disaster Education Team Presenter/Coordinator

The Disaster Education Team Presenter teaches preparedness courses to children. Our preparedness course covers fire safety, earthquake preparedness and disaster kit assembly for children in elementary school. It is very lively and fun, usually taught in a classroom style at schools, after school programs or to various youth organizations. An adult can serve as a presenter or can coordinate groups of students to present. Adults can also be instructor trainers.

Youth Events Supervisor

Youth are involved in various events throughout the year from Holiday Gift Wrap to our major fundraising event, the Heroes Breakfast. We are looking for adults willing to supervise groups of youth services volunteers during these events.
